Laboratory corrosion tests

The aim of this work package is to characterize the corrosion resistance of the welds before and after the
post weld cleaning treatments.

Following methods will be used:
  • Long-term exposures for a period of one month in chloride environment and sulphuric acid environment.

  • Local corrosion resistance; measurements of Critical Pitting Temperature (CPT) according to ASTM G150.

  • Uniform corrosion measurements in acidic and alkaline environments.

  • SVET (Scanning Vibrating Electrode Technique) to quantify local corrosion properties of regions of the weld.
